Why We Give

Generous and sacrificial giving is at the heart of Renewal's vision to cultivate a Gospel-driven renewal within Chicago. It's important to remember that we don't give because God is in need, but because we deeply love and honor Him. Our giving is a tangible testament to our obedience, our gratitude, and our trust in God's providence. It also reflects our joy, which grows as we further our commitment to Him. As we generously contribute to God's mission, we actively participate in transforming our city, reinforcing our unity and advancing the Gospel's influence.

WHat does it mean to cultivate?

Cultivation, in essence, is refining or improving, but the crucial question is: what are we cultivating? It begins with comprehending what Jesus has done for us. Cultivating our hearts around the Gospel is the foundation for stewarding our time, talents, and, specifically, our treasures in the right way. Remember, every aspect of our lives, including how we steward and give our resources, is an act of worship.

Practical Steps for Cultivating:

As you reflect on what Cultivate means for you, consider these practical steps:

  1. Pray: Seek guidance from the Lord on your contribution during this season. Be open to His leading.

  2. Honest Reflection with Jesus' Wisdom: Examine your life and consider where God is calling you to give. As members, we ask all of you to work towards 10% of your household giving as a tithe. If you are already doing that, perhaps this is the time to assess where the Lord may be calling you to do more. Your unique gifts, whether big or small, contribute to the kingdom of God moving forward. Remember, Jesus teaches us that where our heart is, our treasure will be. As believers, our resources can't be our treasure. Giving of our resources helps our hearts because we're reminded it's not ours nor is it all that matters. Advancing the kingdom of God is what matters. This intentional giving process aligns our resources with His vision for Renewal Church.

  3. Heartwork with Jesus: Engage in heartfelt conversations with Jesus about your giving. Let Him shape the motivations and intentions behind your contributions.
